ABOUT THE ARTIST

Born in Maryland and based in Colorado, Keri Englehart is an award-winning fine artist whose expressive paintings explore resilience, self-discovery, and the wild places that bring us back to ourselves.

Working primarily in oil from her studio in Old Colorado City, Englehart brings together figures, wildlife, and landscapes through atmospheric color, symbolic imagery, and a balance of realism and abstraction. Her paintings are rooted in lived experience—the memories that remain, the choices that change us, and the quiet courage required to become who we truly are.

Rather than simply documenting what a subject or place looks like, Englehart seeks to capture what it feels like to stand inside that moment. Her work invites viewers to pause, look inward, and recognize something of their own story within hers.

Englehart has exhibited throughout Colorado, and her work has been selected for the Colorado State Fair Fine Art Show for three consecutive years. In 2026, her painting Liberation received the Frank I. Lamb Library Colorado Award. Her original paintings are held in private collections.

Artist Statement

My paintings begin with something honest—a memory, a question, a turning point, or a place that stays with me long after I’ve left it.

I’m drawn to thresholds: the space between our inner world and outer world, holding on and letting go, and who we have been and who we are becoming. Figures, wildlife, and landscapes become part of that visual language. Nature is more than a setting in my work. It can be a witness, a guide, a refuge, or a reflection of something happening within us.

I build each painting in layers, allowing realism and abstraction to meet. Through atmosphere, color, movement, and symbolic details, I search for the emotional truth of the story rather than a perfect reproduction of what can be seen.

My work doesn’t pretend difficult experiences never happened. It looks for what remains because of them—strength, beauty, possibility, and a deeper understanding of ourselves.

I believe the good often outweighs the bad. Even in a dark place, there is good to be found when we become still enough to see it. That belief lives beneath everything I create.

When someone recognizes part of their own life in something that began as mine, the painting becomes more than an object. It becomes a connection.
